Country Music Association Honors Bob DiPiero And Other Songwriters At Triple Play Awards

The COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION held its 12th annual CMA TRIPLE PLAY AWARDS last night (5/12) at MARATHON MUSIC WORKS in NASHVILLE. In addition to honoring 19 CMA TRIPLE PLAY AWARD recipients (given to songwriters who pen three #1 songs within a 12-month period) BEING BOB MUSIC founder BOB DiPIERO was recognized with the inaugural CMA SONGWRITER ADVOCATE AWARD. The ceremony was hosted by hit songwriter and CMA Board Chairman JIM BEAVERS.   

Triple Play winners last night were: BROCK BERRYHILL, LUKE COMBS, ROSS COPPERMAN, COREY CROWDER, ZACH CROWELL, JESSE FRASURE, RAY FULCHER, ASHLEY GORLEY, MICHAEL HARDY, HILLARY LINDSEY, SHANE McANALLY, RANDY MONTANA, JOSH OSBORNE, HUNTER PHELPS, THOMAS RHETT, JONATHAN SINGLETON, ERNEST KEITH SMITH, JOSH THOMPSON and MORGAN WALLEN.

The CMA Songwriter Advocate Award, which was created to recognize an individual who has dedicated their life to supporting and advancing the art of songwriting and careers of songwriters. Winner DiPIERO was celebrated with musical performances from NEAL McCOY, JEFFREY STEELE and SHENANDOAH's MARTY RAYBON and MIKE McGUIRE, as well as videotaped messages from KIX BROOKS, DEAN DILLON, MIKE DUNGAN, AMY KURLAND, REBA McENTIRE, TIM NICHOLS, CRAIG WISEMAN, CHRIS YOUNG, JASON GANTT, JEFF GARRISON, CAITLYN SMITH and STEELE.

Special guests in attendance to honor the winners included artists and industry executives BRANTLEY GILBERT, RANDY GOODMAN, JOSH VAN VALKENBURG, TYLER HUBBARD. MADELINE MERLO, STEVIE FRASURE, DIERKS BENTLEY, KELSEA BALLERINI, BART HERBISON, THE WARREN BROTHERS and MARK WRIGHT.
