PITTSBURGH COMMUNITY BROADCASTING CORP. News-Talk WESA/PITTSBURGH has found its replacement for the retiring MARIA SCAPELLATO as local host for NPR's "MORNING EDITION," hiring WHYY INC. News-Talk WHYY/PHILADELPHIA local "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED" host PRIYANKA TEWARI for the position, starting MONDAY (1/9). TEWARI's hiring follows that of JEREMY SCOTT, who recently took over as local host of "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED" on WESA, with CHRISTOPHER AYERS moving to the newsroom as Editor.

“We are excited to have both PRIYANKA and JEREMY join the team,” said VP/Broadcasting MIKE SAUTER, “They are eager to discover everything that is special about PITTSBURGH and southwestern PENNSYLVANIA.”
“I’m excited about joining 90.5 WESA, exploring PITTSBURGH and engaging with its diverse communities,” said TEWARI.
In addition, the station is shaking up its SUNDAY schedule, adding four new shows and bringing back another, starting this weekend.
The additions, all syndicated, are "THE PEOPLE'S PHARMACY" at 7a (ET), bumping NPR's "WAIT WAIT... DON'T TELL ME" to 1p, which in turn bumps "THIS AMERICAN LIFE" to 2p SATURDAYS, sending "HIDDEN BRAIN" to SUNDAYS at noon, replacing "IT'S BEEN A MINUTE," which (if you're still with us) replaces "BBC NEWSHOUR" at 4p; "FREAKONOMICS RADIO" at 2p, replacing a second weekend run of the "PLANET MONEY"/"HOW I BUILT THIS" hour; "NOTES FROM AMERICA WITH KAI WRIGHT" at 6p, replacing another run of "HIDDEN BRAIN"; and "CLIMATE ONE" at 8p, moving "THE PULSE" to 4p SATURDAYS, replacing "BBC NEWSHOUR." The returning show is "FRESH AIR WEEKEND" at 3p, replacing a second airing ot "WAIT WAIT... DON'T TELL ME!"
SAUTER said, “Based on listener feedback, we are offering a wider selection of different programs on our weekend schedule.”
