CUMULUS MEDIA/CHARLESTON, SC Sr. Marketing Consultant CYNTHIA ALSTON BELL will receive a MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. PORTRAIT AWARD for her community service at a ceremony in CHARLESTON on JANUARY 24th.
BELL, a 33 year veteran of the CUMULUS CHARLESTON cluster, has an extensive record of community service, including serving as a member of the Auxiliary to the CHARLESTON COUNTRY MEDICAL, DENTAL, AND PHARMACEUTICAL ASSOCIATION, an Advisory Board member of BLACK EXPO, Marketing Coordinator for CLOSING THE GAP IN HEALTHCARE, INC., an Honorary Commander for JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, Chair of the Board of Trustees at CENTRAL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, and a trustee for the CHARLESTON TRIDENT URBAN LEAGUE, MY SISTER’S HOUSE, and the ASSOCIATION FOR THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED. She was also a previous First ViP at the COALITION OF MINORITY LEADERS IN HIGHER EDUCATION and is a member and former Pres. of the SUMMERVILLE Alumnae Chapter and Regional Coordinator of the Arts and Letters Committee of DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC.
The awards have been handed out annually since 1998 by State Rep. WENDELL GILLIARD (D-11th District).
