LOOK OUT KID ARTIST MANAGEMENT, home of COURTNEY BARNETT, is expanding their global reach by picking up former MONSTER ARTIST MANAGEMENT duo JACOB SNELL and ALEXANDRA "APPLE" BAGIOS, adding NEW ZEALAND's THE BETHS, U.S. indie-punks CLOUD NOTHINGS and AUSTRALIAN acts METHYL ETHEL, HATCHIE and RINSE to their roster.
Other acts joining LOOK OUT include SUB-POP's SWEEPING PROMISES, and indie singer-songwriter PALEHOUND, added to a roster that, aside from BARNETT, includes MIDDLE KIDS, SARAH BLASKO, U.S.-based FAYE WEBSTER and CANADIAN BEVERLY GLENN-COPELAND. The combined management firms will have offices in MELBOURNE and LOS ANGELES.
In addition, LOOK OUT KID has brought aboard touring specialist ETHAN HAWKES, most recently production manager for COURTNEY BARNETT's U.S. touring festival HERE AND THERE. She has also spent time as a production manager, stage manager and tour manager for AUSTRALIAN music festivals including LOST PARADISE, GROOVIN THEMOO and LANEWAY, working with global artists such as SOFI TUKKER, HAYDEN JAMES, DUNE RATS, RUEL and GANG OF YOUTHS.
LOOK OUT KID was formed by NICK O'BYRNE in 2011 as a vehicle to manage COURTNEY BARNETT, with whom he celebrated a 10-year working relationship last year. Since its inception, the company has focused on the successful export of AUSTRALIAN musicians; however since 2018 it evolved into a global management company with the addition of U.S. and CANADIAN-based clients.
MONSTER ARTIST MANAGEMENT was formed by SNELL in PERTH in western AUSTRALIA in 2011. Early signings included local artists METHYL ETHEL and HATCHIE, whom SNELL has managed since the beginning of their respective careers. Over the past 12 years, the company and roster has taken on an increasingly global focus, with the signings of international artists like THE BETHS and CLOUD NOTHINGS.
Said LOOK OUT KID about the joining of forces, "We've long had a huge amount of respect and admiration for JACOB and APPLE. We love their roster, we share similar tastes and we care about the same things when it comes to the business of music. It's important to take notice when you find a kindred spirit in this crazy business, so this feels like a natural step for us. I'm excited to exchange knowledge and celebrate in each other's wins. We couldn't be more enthusiastic about the year ahead."
MONSTER ARTIST MANAGEMENT's SNELL and APPLE issued the following statement: “We couldn’t be more thrilled to join forces with LOOK OUT KID. We’ve seen NICK and KATIE go from strength to strength with their incredible roster over the past decade and conduct themselves with an exceptional level of expertise, enthusiasm and genuine care for their artists and the wider industry. We are so excited to work with managers and people that we respect so greatly and who share the same vision. We see this collaboration as an amazing opportunity to learn from each other and create opportunities for our collective artists.”
