CUMULUS MEDIA/CHARLESTON, SC Sr. Marketing Consultant CYNTHIA ALSTON BELL was recently awarded a MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. PORTRAIT Award in recognition for outstanding service to the community.
SC. State Rep. WENDELL GILLIARD established the Awards in 1998 to recognize local community leaders who exercise the values and spirit of community service embodied by Dr. KING. BELL and fellow recipients were honored at the CHARLESTON MUSIC HALL.
BELL is a member and former Pres. of the SUMMERVILLE ALUMNAE CHAPTER of DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, Inc. and Regional Coordinator of THE ARTS AND LETTERS Committee for the SOUTH ATLANTIC Region of DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC.
She currently serves as a member of the Auxiliary to the CHARLESTON COUNTRY MEDICAL, DENTAL, AND PHARMACEUTICAL ASSOCIATION, an Advisory Board member of BLACK EXPO, Marketing Coordinator for CLOSING THE GAP IN HEALTHCARE, Inc., Honorary Commander for JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, and Chair of the Board of Trustees at CENTRAL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH in SUMMERVILLE.Previously BELL served as a member of the Boards of Trustees for community organizations including the CHARLESTON TRIDENT URBAN LEAGUE, MY SISTER’S HOUSE, THE ASSOCIATION FOR THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED, and is the former First Vice-Pres. for THE COALITION OF MINORITY LEADERS IN HIGHER EDUCATION.
