JERRY BLAVAT’s fans said goodbye to “The Geator With The Heater, The Boss With The Hot Sauce” this past SATURDAY (1/28) at the CATHEDRAL BASILLICA OF SAINTS PETER & PAUL in PHILADLEPHIA. BLAVAT passed away this past week, (NET NEWS 1/22), at age 82.
According to “RADIO’s BEST FRIEND,” ART VUOLO, “Well over a thousand people jammed the church and the video coverage was outstanding with a multitude of cameras and perfect audio all produced for the ARCHDIOCESE OF PHILADELPHIA by KEARNS MEDIA CONSULTANTS.
“The attendees were welcomed by REV. GERALD D. GILL who introduced JERRY's daughters DESIREE and STACY, close friend Dr. DAVID RAZOR, SHEILA HESS, of the KIMMEL FOUNDATION, and beloved (recently retired) Channel 6 news anchor JIM GARDNER who read a touching letter from SIDNEY and CAROLYN KIMMEL of the KIMMEL CENTER.
VUOLO added, “Iconic singer DIONNE WARWICK, who BLAVAT proclaimed would be a star after hearing her first hit single in 1962, ‘Don't Make Me Over’ also spoke. JERRY's longtime partner KEELY STAHL was instrumental in the celebration.”
