As previously tipped on ALL ACCESS, former WMAL-A/WASHINGTON midday host MICHAEL GRAHAM is taking over afternoons on GREATER MEDIA Talk WTKK (96.9 FM TALK)/BOSTON, effective TODAY (11/14).
GRAHAM has been filling in on WTKK for the past several weeks; he replaces JAY SEVERIN, who is launching a talk show for WESTWOOD ONE in JANUARY and whose BOSTON affiliate is yet to be determined. ALL ACCESS hears that GREATER MEDIA has an exclusive window of negotiation for SEVERIN in the BOSTON market through the end of DECEMBER, and would carry his national show in evenings if a deal is reached.
GREATER MEDIA Pres./CEO PETER SMYTH says that GRAHAM "is moving to BOSTON to become part of the community. He will address local issues, will be very visible in the market place and will reach out to the community. His keen insight will make him a valued addition to the 96.9 FM TALK family." On SEVERIN, SMYTH says that "we cannot comment at this point. We are still in an exclusive negotiation period, which goes until the end of DECEMBER. At that point, we'll make a decision one way or another. We, as a company, have to make a decision in terms of what's best for the radio station as well as overall economics. If we are able to reach an agreement, SEVERIN would be a national show, airing from 7p-10p ET.”
