Imagine this: You're doing an airshift from a brand new studio, you do your first break, hit the button to start a CD, and nothing happens. So you ad lib while trying two other CD players, and they don't work either. So you try to play music, or run spots or a promo from the computer automation system... nothing. The equipment and board are completely dead. The only thing that works is your microphone.
Virtually EVERY radio pro has had this nightmare. When it comes true, what do you do?
If you're UNIVERSAL National Adult & Top 40 Promotion ace TOM CUNNINGHAM, who also hosts an all-SPRINGSTEEN show called the BRUCE BRUNCH on MILLENNIUM Classic Rock WCHR (105.7 THE HAWK)/MONMOUTH-OCEAN, NJ, you ad lib... for 35 minutes! That's how long it took for help to arrive. It seems that the new studio required a reboot to get back to normal, but it's tough to do that while you're live in front of an open mic!
Listeners were enthralled by TOM's extensive BRUCE knowledge and story-telling ability as he shared info regarding upcoming BRUCE events, and one of his favorite BRUCE stories. If you'd like to check out the BRUCE BRUNCH (which hopefully will go MUCH more smoothly NEXT week), you can listen online at www.1057thehawkfm.com. The show airs SUNDAY morning from 9-11 (ET).
