  Legendary tenor LUCIANO PAVAROTTI died TODAY (9/6) in ITALY after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 71.
  PAVAROTTI passed away at 5a at his home in MODENA. He retired from opera in 2004 but continued to perform at "farewell concerts" until diagnosed with cancer in 2006.
  Among his many honors were five Grammy Awards and appointment as a UNITED NATIONS Messenger of Peace; he was also known worldwide for his "THREE TENORS" performances with PLACIDO DOMINGO and JOSE CARRERAS.
