As mentioned on ALL ACCESS yesterday, (NET NEWS 9/20), CLEAR CHANNEL Modern AC KYSR (STAR 98.7)/LOS ANGELES has repositioned the station as "L.A. & ORANGE COUNTY'S MODERN ADULT STATION" to redefine their lane and avoid swerving into KYSR's new sister Adult Hits station KBIG (104.3 MY FM).
The station remains jockless for now, with an occasional tease saying, "STAR 98.7 ... We don't even know if our microphones work ..." -- but ALL ACCESS hears that the regular STAR 98.7 staff (LISA FOXX, YVONNE VELAZQUEZ, TOM MITCHELL and SUMMER JAMES) will be return to their regular airshifts on MONDAY (9/24) -- minus morning man SEAN VALENTINE, who moves to mornings on 104.3 MY FM.
In addition to the '90s Rock and Alternative tracks heard yesterday, PD CHARESE FRUGE' has been gradually mixing in some currents. Some of the songs heard on KYSR today include COLBIE CAILLAT "Bubbly," MATCHBOX TWENTY "How Far We've Come," SILVERCHAIR "Straight Lines," ROCCO DELUCA "Colorful," I NINE "Seven Days Of Lonely," BLUE OCTOBER "Calling You" and PAT MONAHAN "Her Eyes."
According to FRUGE', "We didn't change ... or flip ... It's business as usual. We are all music geeks, so it's really all about playing great music and having fun."
