On their second try, the SAN FRANCISCO Board of Supervisors passed a resolution condemning TALK RADIO NETWORK syndicated host MICHAEL SAVAGE for "hate speech." The resolution, introduced by Supervisor GERARDO SANDOVAL in AUGUST, failed once before when Supervisor ED JEW voted against it on First Amendment grounds. A revote on TUESDAY passed 11-0.
The resolution was in response to SAVAGE's criticism of a group of hunger strikers protesting to support illegal immigrants at SAN JOSE STATE UNIVERSITY; SAVAGE, on his JULY 5th show, said that the hunger strikers should "fast until they starve to death."
