Over And Out

OPIE AND ANTHONY are through at CBS Rock WYSP/PHILADELPHIA after OPIE ripped WYSP PD JOHN COOK on TUESDAY's show, noting that the hosts had asked COOK to "call us. He said he was going to call us. He said he was going to keep in touch with us." 

When ANTHONY CUMIA responded, "I don't think he likes us," OPIE replied, "Well, then, say it. Then say it! Stop being a little, you know, you know what. We can't say half the words we want to call him. Wussy boy. Be a man. Tell us what's goin' on ... Don't come up to NEW YORK and sit across the table from us and say how great we are and you're big fans and lookin' forward to working with us and all this stuff and then, uh, what, and then you go away and we never hear from you? That's not a man. That's a wussy boy. JOHN COOK's a wussy boy ... 'YSP, the people running it right now, it blows. It blows...."

I believe it's time to move on and find a company that's willing to take the show and work it the way it should be worked

OPIE repeated his view that "it's just about over in PHILLY" for the show, saying that "we ain't takin' their crap too much longer ... We're just about done with WYSP. Personally, I can't speak for the rest of the guys; I don't want to be on 'YSP anymore. I don't think they get it. I think the station's a complete disaster. And I believe it's time to move on and find a company that's willing to take the show and work it the way it should be worked. This is a fine radio show, and I'm not going to sit there and be treated like crap ... I love PHILLY. I love the people of PHILLY. I love doin' radio. I love doin' radio for PHILLY. I just don't love 'YSP... I don't need them. We don't need them. And I'm sure we could find another home in PHILLY. It might take a little while, but I'm willin' to take the chance. 'YSP is a disaster."

By TUESDAY afternoon, all mentions of OPIE & ANTHONY had disappeared from the WYSP website.  The station plans to play music in morning drive for now, although talk in the DELAWARE VALLEY has long suggested that afternoon host KIDD CHRIS is ticketed for mornings at WYSP.

WYSP PD JOHN COOK gave ALL ACCESS a "no comment" regarding O&A and any potential replacements.
