The WALL STREET JOURNAL is reporting that the FCC has asked XM SATELLITE RADIO and SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO asking for details about everything "from exclusive distribution contracts, to programming arrangements, to technical questions about where equipment is located." The questionnaires also asked about which channels on the two systems are duplicative and could be consolidated, what opportunities are available for niche programmers and interoperable receivers.
The JOURNAL suggests that the questions might indicate what conditions the FCC could place on the merger.
