CITADEL Talk WMAL-A/WASHINGTON host CHRIS CORE is being sued by a retired Marine colonel for defamation in a small-claims action in D.C. Superior Court, reports the WASHINGTON TIMES. GARY JACOBSEN is suing CORE for comments the host made regarding JACOBSEN's article in the WASHINGTON POST on his experience hiring day laborers at a local 7-ELEVEN to paint his home. JACOBSEN claims that he declined an invitation to be interviewed by CORE on the air, and then was personally attacked by the host, who allegedly told listeners that JACOBSEN had broken the law and that they should call the authorities.
JACOBSEN said that CORE's show led to people withdrawing their donations to a scholarship JACOBSEN, a columnist for the POTOMAC NEWS, helped establish at NORTHERN VIRGINIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE. The case is scheduled to be heard NOVEMBER 13th; JACOBSEN is seeking $5,000 in damages.
