COX RADIO Alternative WDYL (Y101)/RICHMOND's THE MORNING SLUDGE collected 32,785 pounds of food from the second annual" SHOW US YOUR CANS" food drive held NOVEMBER 12-16. SLUDGE AND ABE from the show lived all week in a KROGER parking lot, broadcasting live all day and night, collecting food for the CENTRAL VIRGINIA FOOD BANK. They collected almost three times the amount from last year's food drive.
Calling it "a food drive on steroids", every event involved listeners bringing bags of food to see local bands and comedians perform, local celebrities, the SLUDGETTES, and sports teams, as well as TEXAS HOLD 'EM and XBOX tournaments. At the end of the week, everyone that brought food got entered into a drawing for the Rent-A-Center Lounge, which had an entire set of furniture and a Plasma TV.
