CLEAR CHANNEL Country WPOC/BALTIMORE News Director BILL REHKOPF will join CBS Talk KDKA-A/PITTSBURGH as morning news anchor, starting after the first of the year. REHKOPF will replace BOB KOPLER, who is retiring DECEMBER 28th after 19 years at KDKA.
REHKOPF, whose background includes stops at WARM-A/SCRANTON, WHP-A/HARRISBURG, WRAK-A and WKSB/WILLIAMSPORT, WWCH-A and WCCR/CLARION, PA, WPXZ and WECZ-A/PUNXSUTAWNEY, PA, and WMKX/BROOKVILLE, PA, said, "When I was young, I’d listen to the likes of UNCLE ED [SCHAUGHENCY] and BILL STEINBACH and always dreamed I would one day work here. I’m very mindful of the history that goes before me, and it’s a privilege to join those who call KDKA 'home.'"
"BOB is a legend in this market and cannot be replaced," said PD MARSHALL ADAMS of KOPLER. "His contributions to the station are many and will live on long after he’s gone." On REHKOPF, ADAMS noted, "BILL has a deep appreciation and understanding for the power and responsibility of delivering morning news on KDKA. Having grown up in MURRYSVILLE, he knows what our audience has come to expect."
