OFCOM has awarded the new digital radio multiplex in NORTH YORKSHIRE to MUXCO NORTH YORKSHIRE LTD., owned 60% by THE LOCAL RADIO COMPANY and 40% by FOLDER MEDIA and NATIONAL GRID WIRELESS's MUXCO.
The new six-channel service will offer three LOCAL RADIO COMPANY stations, Top 40 MINSTER FM/YORK, Top 40 97.2 STRAY FM/HARROGATE, and Top 40 YORKSHIRE COAST RADIO/SCARBOROUGH, along with LASER BROADCASTING's AC FRESH RADIO/YORKSHIRE DALES, EASY RADIO LTD.'s Easy Listening EASY RADIO, and the HIGHWAYS AGENCY's TRAFFIC RADIO.
MUXCO has until JUNE 30, 2009 to launch all of the channels except YORKSHIRE COAST RADIO, which will launch within two years of the launch of the other channels.
