BRISTOL Top 40 WVSR/CHARLESTON, WV morning co-host COACH KIDD, was suspended for a few days last week for his too-enthusiastic reaction to the news that WEST VIRGINIA football coach RICH RODRIGUEZ was going to take over the WOLVERINES.

KIDD, a MICHIGAN native whose real name is JEFF NEWCOMER, was so happy about RODRIGUEZ's move that he played the MICHIGAN fight song. Four times.

"Basically, it boils down to insubordination," PD WADE HILL told the CHARLESTON DAILY MAIL. "He was just taking it a little too far." HILL said NEWCOMER had been told three times to stop talking about how thrilled he was that RODRIGUEZ was going to Michigan.

"They said: 'We've warned you. You're done until you can get your head on straight,'" NEWCOMER told The FLINT HOURNAL.

Though he was allowed back on the air, NEWCOMER did have to pay in one other way for bruising the sensitivities of the MOUNTAINEERS faithful. He showed up at a food drive at a supermarket wearing a MICHIGAN shirt and helped a local pantry raise about $400. How?

"They threw eggs at me," NEWCOMER said.
