WNYC/NY's Oscar Brand Celebrates 60 Years

Congratulations to noncommercial Talk WNYC-A/NEW YORK folk music show host and singer OSCAR BRAND, who celebrates his 60th anniversary on the station with SATURDAY's show (10/10). 

BRAND launched the show on DECEMBER 10, 1945, making it the longest continuously-running radio show in history, according to the next GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS (although the GRAND OLD OPRY and "THE LUTHERAN HOUR" might be able to stake a claim to longer runs) . The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS reports that BRAND's anniversary show will feature visits from singers CHRISTINE LAVIN, GUY DAVIS, and JEAN RITCHIE.
