ALL ACCESS is very sad to report that former WFOM/ATLANTA owner and independent record rep JIMMY "THE OL BEAR" DAVENPORT died of a massive heart attack today (12/6). JIMMY was 75 years old. He is survived by his wife CAROLE, two sons JIM JR. and SCOTT DAVENPORT, and four grandchildren.
Said ALL ACCESS President and Editor In Chief JOEL DENVER, "JIM 'OL' BEAR' DAVENPORT, and his wife CAROLE, and their two sons JIM JR., and SCOTT, and the rest of the family played host to the Kings And Queens of the radio and record business during the 70s and 80s at their home in MARIETTA, GA. JIMMY was one of the funniest guys alive -- and one of the most-liked and well-regarded folks I've had the privilege of knowing. Your laughter and good friendship will be missed by me and so many others. GOD bless you and your family."
A memorial service for JIM will be held on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8th at 1p at ST. MARTINS IN THE FIELDS CHURCH in ATLANTA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in JIM's name be made to your favorite charity. Cards of condolence may be sent to: THE DAVENPORT FAMILY, 4332 Cove Way, MARIETTA, GA 30067. A LIFE CELEBRATION FOR JIM, is tentaively being planned for early 2006. Details will be forthcoming.
