More than two years after an appeals court set aside a $17.2 million judgment against morning radio personality JENNIFER ROSS and the company that formerly owned WRMF/WEST PALM BEACH, a PALM BEACH COUNTY jury has again found that ROSS breached her contract by jumping ship from CBS AC WEAT (SUNNY 104.3) to WRMF, reports THE SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINAL.
The six-panelist jury awarded $6.9 million in punitive damages and $126,511 in compensatory damages to CBS RADIO, formerly INFINITY RADIO, the owner of SUNNY 104.3.
ROSS is not on the hook for the punitive damages, only the JAMES CRYSTAL companies, the former owners of WRMF, are responsible for that portion.
ALAN ROSENTHAL, an attorney for CBS RADIO, asked for $11 million, which he said represented half of the $22 million profit the JAMES CRYSTAL companies made when it sold WRMF. Jurors awarded CBS RADIO $2.3 million from each of the three JAMES CRYSTAL companies.
