On a conference call to discuss the company's PPM trials, ARBITRON President/PPM-International PIERRE BOUVARD said that the company thinks that CLEAR CHANNEL's DECEMBER 15 deadline for proposals to develop a competing ratings service to ARBITRON's PPM will end up with his company on top.
"We obviously feel excited" about the CLEAR CHANNEL request for proposals, BOUVARD said, adding that "it's our opportunity to strut our stuff and show that we're ready." BOUVARD stressed the long development period for meters, asserting that "if all you've got is a gizmo, you have a long way to go" with design, procedures, and MEDIA RATINGS COUNCIL auditing. He suggested that a competitor starting now would be looking at 2010 for a rollout of a metering service.
