Alternative KZON Becomes Free FM On January 3rd

Rumors become reality as CBS RADIO is spinning the format wheel at Alternative KZON (ZONE 101.5)/PHOENIX to Talk on TUESDAY, JANUARY 3rd, as another FREE FM outlet. It's the 10th station in the format for CBS now, and it leaves crosstown RIVIERA Alternative KEDJ (THE EDGE) solo in the format.

ADAM CAROLLA had already been slated to do mornings at KZON following HOWARD STERN's exit to SIRIUS. At 11a it's FROSTY, HEIDI & FRANK, at 4p TOM LEYKIS comes on. Then on JANUARY 20th, PHIL HENDRIE comes aboard from 8-11p.

Overnights and weekends will feature the best music from today, the 90s and Rock’s past, with weekends being branded as "Free Rock Weekends."

KZON PD CHRIS PATYK will stay aboard for the transition. But leaving the station are midday personality STEFANI (stefanihedin@hotmail.com), afternooner Fathead (hughes16@cox.net), and night player J.C. (jc@popscene-sf.com).
