ARBITRON is making preparations to continue PPM monitoring in HOUSTON as Hurricane IKE bears down on the market. In a statement to the press, ARBITRON noted, "As mandatory evacuations are implemented for HOUSTON-GALVESTON with HURRICANE IKE nearing the TEXAS gulf coast, ARBITRON is keeping a weather eye on the PPM panelists in that market. ARBITRON has also provided GMs, PDs and engineers of all encoded stations with a checklist to help in preparing the encoders and monitors for the storm, (particularly for their back-facilities) and instructions for notifying us of any changes and/or technical difficulties.
"We are also closely monitoring the BEAUMONT-PORT ARTHUR, CORPUS CHRISTI and MCALLEN-BROWNSVILLE, TX, and LAKE CHARLES, LA markets, suspending placement and follow-up calls to respondents as their mandatory evacuations are implemented. Should the storm take a different path, we will adjust accordingly."
