AUGUST certainly lived up to its billing as the "dog days" of summer, as radio revenues fell 11% in the month, following the 9% decline in JUNE and 6% drop in JULY. According to the RADIO ADVERTISING BUREAU, the lone bright spot was Off-Air revenue, which increased 10%.
Dissecting on-air revenue, unfortunately, revealed a less-than-pretty picture: National revenues dropped 14%, while Local Market revenues fell 11%.
