WEST PALM BEACH firefighters dealt with a small electrical fire MONDAY at the office building that houses CBS RADIO AC WEAT (SUNNY 104.3), Country WIRK (COUNTRY K), Top 40/Rhythmic WMBX (X102.3), Alternative WPBZ (THE BUZZ) and Urban AC WNEW (THE B), reports THE PALM BEACH POST.
"Here's what you missed in the last 20 minutes. There was a fire in the building. A small fire. But we're fine," X102.3 PD MARK "MCCRAZEY " MCCRAY said on the air when the announcer returned live about 8a. "I heard that fire alarm go off. I grabbed my keys and my CDs and I walked out the door," he said.
J.D. PELLETIER, host on COUNTRY K, said engineers at all five stations were able to set automated programming into motion before everyone headed out. "We were on the air," PELLETIER said. "You could hear the alarm going off." He said announcers insisted on finishing a "battle of the sexes' contest, but that then, "the engineer came in and said, 'You've got to get out now.'"
