Minor league hockey's PEORIA RIVERMEN have a new radio play-by-play voice, hiring former WHEELING NAILERS broadcaster BRENDAN BURKE for the job and to head public relations for the club. BURKE, who also serves as the radio voice of minor league baseball's LAKEWOOD BLUE CLAWS, fills the slot left vacant when TOM CALLAHAN exited to join the NHL's NASHVILLE PREDATORS in SEPTEMBER.
Because of the late hire, former RIVERMEN voice NORM ULRICH is returning from retirement to handle the first three games of the season. The RIVERMEN will air this season on INDEPENDENCE MEDIA Oldies WHPI (HIPPIE RADIO)/PEORIA under a new three year deal.
