Frick Award Nominees Announced; Nuxhall Leads Fan Vote Again

The finalists for this year's BASEBALL HALL OF FAME FORD C. FRICK Award for broadcasters have been announced, and the late CINCINNATI REDS announcer and pitcher JOE NUXHALL led fan voting for the second consecutive year. Fans also voted to nominate the late TORONTO BLUE JAYS voice TOM CHEEK and MONTREAL EXPOS broadcaster JACQUES DOUCET.
The other seven candidates, chosen by committee, include the late legend DIZZY DEAN; former NBC, BLUE JAYS, and YANKEES analyst TONY KUBEK; RED SOX, WHITE SOX and INDIANS broadcaster KEN COLEMAN; EXPOS and current MARLINS voice DAVE VAN HORNE; METS Spanish-language announcer BILLY BERROA; late sportscasting pioneer GRAHAM MCNAMEE; and recently-retired PIRATES voice LANNY FRATTARE.
The winner will be announced at baseball's Winter Meetings in LAS VEGAS DECEMBER 9th and will be inducted on JULY 26th in COOPERSTOWN.
