BEASLEY BROADCASTING is paying a "voluntary contribution" of $85,000 under a consent decree adopted by the FCC THURSDAY that settles indecency and Internet gambling ad complaints against the company's Sports WQAM-A/MIAMI and Rock WRXK (96.1 K-ROCK)/FT. MYERS. The agreement cancels previously proposed fines against the stations.
In other FCC actions, the Commission fined FRANKLIN COLLEGE OF INDIANA $3,200 for public file violations at its noncommercial WFCI/FRANKLIN, IN, and fined WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY $7,200 for public file violations at noncommercial WLUR/LEXINGTON, VA. And it rejected OCONEE RIVER BROADCASTING, LLC's appeal of the dismissal of its proposed frequency change and facility upgrades for WBIC-A/ROYSTON, GA, ruling that the applicant's allegation that a conflicting permit for WFGM-A/SANDY SPRINGS, GA will "never be built" was not grounds to allow the application to proceed before the WFGM permit expires.
