Rumors of a change at CBS RADIO's WPGC-A/WASHINGTON are picking up steam with the emergence of graphics and URL registrations on the Net indicating a new Talk format. The station presently simulcasts sister Urban WPGC-F.
The rumors were first reported recently by DCRTV.COM, which said that the new station would assume the same "BIG TALKER" slogan as sister Talk WPHT-A/PHILADELPHIA and would simulcast WPHT's morning show with MICHAEL SMERCONISH.
A graphic on a website registered to web design firm INTERTECH MEDIA -- which does work for several CBS stations -- shows a logo for "1580 AM, THE BIG TALKER," with pictures of SMERCONISH, BILL O'REILLY, GLENN BECK, LOU DOBBS, and DR. LAURA SCHLESSINGER, with the words "Site Coming 11.10.08."
The FCC database shows that the call letters WHFS, which were dropped by the BALTIMORE FM that flipped YESTERDAY from Talk to Sports, have been requested by "CBS RADIO WPGC (AM), INC." as of MONDAY.
