Former AIR AMERICA RADIO host AL FRANKEN's bid for the U.S. Senate in MINNESOTA against incumbent (and former regular on KSTP-A/ST. PAUL) Sen. NORM COLEMAN and independent DEAN BARKLEY remains in a virtual dead heat between FRANKEN and COLEMAN.
The race appears to be certain to result in a mandatory recount, with COLEMAN leading by less than 700 votes over FRANKEN out of almost 3 million votes cast. A recount, which could take several weeks, is required by MINNESOTA law in cases where the winner leads by less than 0.5% of the vote; COLEMAN's lead is about 0.03%.
