The TENNESSEAN is reporting today (11/5) that CURB/NASHVILLE star TIM McGRAW did more than just deliver the ceremonial first pitch to honor his late father, former PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES pitcher TUG McGRAW, at GAME 3 of the 2008 WORLD SERIES.
TIM also scattered some of TUG's ashes on the pitcher's mound, paying tribute to the man who pitched the final strike that won the PHILLIES their first world championship in 1980. While his efforts went unnoticed by most, the team is now confirming the report to the media.
Current PHILLIES pitcher TOM GORDON, who wears the No. 45 in honor of TUG, told COMCAST SPORTSNET PHILADELPHIA: "It's just wonderful to see a son pay tribute to his father in that way. They must have had a really wonderful relationship."
