FISHER COMMUNICATIONS third-quarter 2008 radio segment revenue fell 9.9% to $11.3 million, resulting in a loss from operations widening to from $477,000 to $1.8 million. The decrease in revenue and increase in loss from operations was blamed on a 21% decrease in revenue from broadcasting SEATTLE MARINERS baseball on News KOMO-A/SEATTLE in the last season of the team's contract with FISHER (the M's move to crosstown BONNEVILLE Talk KIRO-A-F next season). Excluding the MARINERS, revenue was flat despite an 8% decline in revenue for the SEATTLE market.
The company's overall revenues rose 2.8% to $41.9 million, primarily due to the addition of CBS affiliate KBAK-TV and FOX affiliate KBFX-CA/BAKERSFIELD.
