Mark Bright To Take Helm At Word

WARNER BROS RECORDS announced that music publishing executive and producer MARK BRIGHT will be taking the helm at the Contemporary Christian label WORD ENTERTAINMENT as President/CEO. BRIGHT will oversee WORD ENTERTAINMENT's entire operation including the label group, publishing, distribution and church resource divisions. He replaces JIM VAN HOOK who will be retiring after 30 years in the industry.

With his rich musical background as an accomplished performer, songwriter and producer combined with his successful track record as a music industry executive, MARK embodies a truly unique blend of creativity and leadership. I am confident that MARK will bring a spirit of innovation and artistry to WORD ENTERTAINMENT and uphold its celebrated tradition as one of the world's preeminent homes of Contemporary Christian music," said WBR Chairman/CEO TOM WHALLEY in TODAY's (11/10) announcement.

A well-known producer in NASHVILLE, BRIGHT has worked with many artists such as CARRIE UNDERWOOD, REBA McENTIRE, RASCAL FLATTS and MARK SCHULTZ among others. In addition, BRIGHT formerly served as VP of EMI MUSIC PUBLISHING and co-founded TERACEL MUSIC, whose staff writers included BRETT JAMES, RASCAL FLATTS and DANNY WELLS.
