BNA/NASHVILLE star KENNY CHESNEY surprised fans with an impromptu performance at TOOTSIE'S ORCHID LOUNGE on BROADWAY in downtown NASHVILLE last night (11/10). The WAILERS, known for many years as the backing band for the late BOB MARLEY, joined KENNY onstage, along with special guests KID ROCK and MAC McANALLY (who duets with CHESNEY on his latest single, "Down The Road").
KENNY and The WAILERS had just finished rehearsing for their performance together for the 42nd Annual CMA AWARDS being held tomorrow (11/12) at the SOMMET CENTER in NASHVILLE, when they decided to share their set with fans in town. Not only was TOOTSIE'S packed full to capacity, the line to get in was up and down twice around the block.
CHESNEY said: “After we finished rehearsing, it just didn't feel like enough, you know? You get sorta ready to go, and then it's over. I know that was all I could think: this should be done live, out there, so people can see it. When I asked FAMILY MAN (ASTON BARRETT of The WAILERS) if they'd be up for playing, he was ready. You know, it's that thing of you get your feet wet…”
