MORRIS COMMUNICATIONS Talk KNWZ-A-KNWQ-A (K-NEWS)/PALM SPRINGS afternoon hosts MARSHALL GILBERT and GARY STONE have exited the station, and they tell the DESERT SUN that they were fired for discussing a PALM SPRINGS council member's 1983 indictment and acquittal on murder charges. PD JOH MCMULLEN tells ALL ACCESS that GILBERT called Councilwoman GINNY FOAT a "murderer" and said that she had admitted killing her ex-husband in a book, which MCMULLEN notes is not the case.

GILBERT told the paper that "I have no regrets about what I said.  GINNY FOAT was charged with murder and acquitted. What part do I regret?"

GM NORMAN FEUER said the cancellation was for "not following instructions on what to do on-air."
