NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO has donated part of the first floor of its new headquarters building to the CAPITAL AREA FOOD BANK for food storage, reports the WASHINGTON BUSINESS JOURNAL. The food bank is building a new distribution facility but needs space before that building is completed in 2010; NPR is building its new facility around a former telephone company building, the one which contains the space being donated.
NPR Interim CEO DENNIS HAARSAGER's brother ROB was one of the food bank's original employees as a volunteer in 1980.
