Condolences to family and friends of former JOURNAL CO. (now JOURNAL COMMUNICATIONS) executive SPRAGUE VONIER, who died OCTOBER 31st in SHOREWOOD, WI at 90.
VONIER joined JOURNAL as a copy editor for the old MILWAUKEE SENTINEL after WORLD WAR II, then rejoining the company after a stint as Press Secretary to MILWAUKEE Mayor JOHN BOHN, working on the promotion staff at WTMJ-A and the new WTMJ-TV in 1948. He rose through the ranks to become Production Director, Chief Producer, and Program Manager at WTMJ-TV, retiring as VP of Electronic Information for JOURNAL division TELTRON in 1983.
