MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE sports columnist PATRICK REUSSE will take over mornings at HUBBARD BROADCASTING Talk KSTP-A/ST. PAUL-MINNEAPOLIS starting JANUARY 12th. REUSSE, who has been with KSTP since 1980 as the co-host of what evolved into "SATURDAY MORNING SPORTSTALK" with JOE SOUCHERAY and later as a regular on SOUCHERAY's daily show "GARAGE LOGIC," is replacing the departed WILLIE CLARK. REUSSE will continue to appear on SOUCHERAY's show as well as co-hosting the SATURDAY show and writing for the STRIB. Morning co-host JAY KOLLS, news anchor BOB BERGLUND, and traffic reporter KENNY OLSON will continue alongside REUSSE.
"Somewhere between wacky and MPR (MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO), there's a morning radio show to be done, and that's what I hope to be part of MONDAY through FRIDAY on KSTP," said REUSSE. "The goal is for us to put together a morning show that I would listen to."
"I see doing five morning radio shows as a more challenging task than writing five columns per week," added REUSSE. "RED SMITH, the greatest sports columnist of all-time, once was asked why he didn't try another area of the newspaper and said, 'When I need a column, I always know where to find the dugout.'
"Now this -- a morning radio show -- is something else. I don't think there's a formula. There's some anxiety involved in trying to come up with the right mix of entertainment and information for those folks stuck in our increasingly difficult morning commute, but there's also an excitement."
