EMINEM's "3 a.m.," the third track from his new album "Relapse," was premiered on his SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO station, SHADE 45, during the 5p. hour THURSDAY, reports SLIM SHADY's hometown newspaper, THE DETROIT NEWS, which writes "the release of the track capped a busy day for EMINEM, INC., which also saw the unveiling of a viral website for "Relapse," the announcement of a DETROIT CD release party for "Relapse" and the airing of an interview with the rapper on SHADE 45."
"3 a.m." is darker than previous singles "We Made You" and "Crack a Bottle," but still revels in SLIM SHADY's signature celebrity name-dropping (the song contains references to KIM KARDASHIAN, also a target in "We Made You," as well as "HANNAH MONTANA"). The song's chorus hints at amnesia-fueled homicide: "It's 3 in the a.m. in the morning, put my key in the door and there's bodies laying all over the floor/I don't remember how they got there, but I guess I must have killed them." For bonus icky points, it also finds EM quoting from BUFFALO BILL's creepy "it puts the lotion in the bucket" speech from "The Silence of the Lambs."
"The premiere of the DR. DRE-produced '3 a.m.' was teased throughout the day on SHADE 45, but was repeatedly delayed for unknown reasons. It was set to premiere at 3p on the website rapradar.com, but the site crashed due to the heavy flow of traffic. 'Someone is getting fired,' EM's manager, PAUL ROSENBERG, wrote on his TWITTER feed several hours after the site went down."
