AMERICAN WOMEN IN RADIO & TELEVISION (AWRT) will hold a donation ceremony that celebrates a national educational program for public middle schools across the country, entitled AWRT Empowering AMERICA. This program has been made possible by the generous support of FORD MOTOR COMPANY FUND.
AWRT Empowering AMERICA initiative is a public service announcement campaign that profiles inspiring women who have blazed trails in a range of areas, including science, literature, social reform, public service, sports, broadcasting, music and aviation. AWRT and FORD have teamed up with the NATIONAL MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (NMSA) to put supplemental materials in the hands of teachers to stimulate and enhance classroom conversations about these female icons.
They've created 20,000 educational booklets, as well as artisan-style posters and teaching guidelines -- all designed to complement the AWRT Empowering AMERICA radio campaign. These materials will be donated to public middle schools in cities across the country. For more information about AWRT Empowering AMERICA, visit www.awrt.org.
