Miller Kaplan: Sports Most Effective Revenue Format

The MILLER KAPLAN CPA firm has crunched radio data and found that Sports was the most effective format in converting ratings to revenue in 2008. The second most-effective format Hot AC, followed by News.
The firm's most recent study of power ratios estimates how well each format converts its ratings to revenue. A power ratio of 1.0 is basically the base line -- the expected revenue that should be generated from its ratings. In 2008, Sports' ratio was 1.88, for the 50 stations in that format. Rounding out the top 5 were Hot AC at 1.79, News at 1.61, Triple A at 1.55 and Rock at 1.53.
