The country's largest cable TV company, COMCAST CORP, denied a report YESTERDAY that it had struck a deal to buy NBC UNIVERSAL for $35 billion, reports THE NEW YORK POST. NBC UNIVERSAL is owned by GENERAL ELECTRIC and VIVENDI, the parent company of UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP.
A COMCAST spokesperson declined comment to THE POST, which wrote "THE WRAP.COM reported that COMCAST is in talks to buy NBC UNIVERSAL, and that bankers for both sides met in NEW YORK TUESDAY. The report also said two individuals informed about the meeting said a deal had been 'completed' at a purchase price of $35 billion."
