Condolences to family and friends of Hip-Hop radio pioneer JOHN "MR. MAGIC" RIVAS, who died FRIDAY of a heart attack in NEW YORK at 53.
MR. MAGIC hosted the first rap show on commercial radio in the U.S., "RAP ATTACK," on INNER CITY Urban WBLS/NEW YORK, starting in 1983, joined by MARLEY MARL. He and the show were name-checked in several songs, most notably in the NOTORIOUS B.I.G.'s "JUICY."
