WEQX Celebrates 25 Years In 25 Days

NORTHSHIRE COMMUNICATIONS Alternative WEQX/MANCHESTER, VT-ALBANY, NY will celebrate its 25th Anniversary on NOVEMBER 14th. Beginning next MONDAY, OCTOBER 12th, the station will begin a "'EQX -- 25 YEARS IN 25 DAYS," an on-air retrospective with a block of 'EQX music history from every year MONDAY-FRIDAY starting with 2009. WEQX will countdown to when the station signed on NOVEMBER 14th, 1984.
Also part of the celebration, the station has "THE EQX 25TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT SERIES" featuring SILVERSUN PICKUPS, CAGE THE ELEPHANT, AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT, MATISYAHU, and two free shows with HOCKEY and THE BLACK AND WHITE YEARS. There will be a free anniversary show on the eve of WEQX's anniversary (11/13) at JILLIAN'S in ALBANY with THE ASTEROIDS GALAXY TOUR.
There will also be an 'EQX 25TH ANNIVERSARY CD" coming, featuring live recorded and studio tracks from THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS, OK GO, TOM MORELLO: THE NIGHTWATCHMAN, WORLD PARTY, BELL X1, ERIC HUTCHINSON, and more.
Congratulations to owners BROOKS & MIMI BROWN, OM/PD WILLOBEE, MD AMBER MILLER, and the entire WEQX staff on reaching this historic milestone There have been some great programmers at 'EQX over past 25 years, including JIM MCGUINN, GARY SCHOENWETTER, and JOHN ALLERS.
