Announcer, VO Specialist Joe Slattery Dies

Condolences to family and friends of voiceover artist and former ABC radio and TV announcer and news anchor JOE SLATTERY, who died OCTOBER 2nd of a stroke suffered after open heart surgery in EVANSTON, IL at 87, according to the CHICAGO TRIBUNE.

SLATTERY worked in radio for several years before joining ABC in CHICAGO in 1960 and later moving to freelance status; he was best known as the familiar voice of the JEWEL supermarket chain in commercials until four years ago.
