ALL ACCESS sends prayers and condolences to the family of TEXAS Music legend RUSTY WIER, who passed away FRIDAY (10/9) after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 65.
WIER was considered one of the original AUSTIN COSMIC COWBOYS, along with JERRY JEFF WALKER and MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY. WIER's biggest hit was "Don't It Make You Wanna Dance," which BONNIE RAITT recorded for the "Urban Cowboy" soundtrack.
He often played at the SAXON PUB in AUSTIN, and owner JOE ABLES has said that a memorial service will "probably" take place there at a later date. Details are still being worked out with WIER's family.
