Gospel star MARVIN SAPP and his wife MALINDA are launching a new bid to buy bankrupt Urban WJNZ-A/GRAND RAPIDS after their donation to ROBERT S. WOMACK's bid was rejected. The GRAND RAPIDS PRESS reports that the SAPPS, who WOMACK said offered $150,000 for 75% of the company with "more family-friendly" format strings attached, have broken away from WOMACK and are attempting to buy the station themselves.
The station was sold from bankruptcy to HOLY FAMILY RADIO, and WOMACK filed an objection with the court alleging irregularities in the bidding process. A hearing is now scheduled for OCTOBER 19th. If Judge ROBERT YATES decides to reopen bidding, the SAPPS' bid may or may not be considered.
