EMMIS' national station in HUNGARY, Oldies-based AC SLAGER RADIO, has lost its license as one of two stations to get their license renewals rejected by the ORTT, the agency responsible for broadcasting regulation.
RADIO NETHERLANDS WORLDWIDE reports that SLAGER and DANUBIUS RADIO both saw their bids for seven year license renewals turned down in favor of new stations licensed to FM1 and ADVENIO ZRT. ORTT Chairman LASZLO MAJTENYI said that he disagreed with the decision (in which he had no vote) and added "I don’t think the case is closed; I think this is just the start of a scandal."
SLAGER RADIO has indicated that it will sue the ORTT and will seek to use any legal means to remain on the air.
