Senate Majority Leader HARRY REID (D-NV) has taken time out from the healthcare debate to address comments by two guests on BEASLEY Talk KDWN-A/LAS VEGAS morning host HEIDI HARRIS' show in the last two weeks about a 1981 car-bombing incident referenced in one of his campaign commercials.
In response to comments from Republican challenger SUE LOWDEN saying that she didn't remember the alleged attempt on REID's life in 1981 (when she was a local news anchor and REID was Chairman of the NEVADA GAMING COMMISSION) and by Gov. JIM GIBBONS, who belittled the bomb in REID's car as a "telephone book and a shoe box," REID released a police report calling the incident an attempted homicide, along with news stories from the time in question and bomb squad notes.
The story has gotten HARRIS attention from news organizations nationwide, including the ASSOCIATED PRESS and the LOS ANGELES TIMES.
